This is a belated post to share that 5 students recently were invited to Germany, Euskirchen, to dance as guests in Tanzstudio CO-LEG’s 10th Anniversary concert. Susan, Eleanor, Ella, Darcy and Izzy danced their Contemporary Quintet and a version of the very popular GAGA MIX. Huge thanks to Robert and his teachers,students and friends for making us feel so welcome even though it was a very busy 48hrs!
We have had ties with Robert and his studio since 2010, when we first met them visiting and performing for the 25th Twinning anniversary and we have been keeping in touch ever since, both through them visiting us independently as guests in Moving Experience 2011 and through Festival of sport every year where nearly 200 adults and children host/visit alternately competing for a friendly trophy between Basingstoke and Euskirchen. Of course the dancers always tie as we are collaborative not competitive! They actually visited us this weekend (another post to follow…) and the girls made sure they hooked up with those students that were coming over.
We were really very privileged to be invited to be involved in such a special event – and a very personal landmark for Robert and his teams. Congratulations on a wonderful show. It was also great to see some of the dancers I first met in 2010 look so grown up ! Especially Tariq who I first hosted at my house as a young boy and who is now a very talented adult dancer and performed a stunning duet with Robert himself.
Robert and I are very keen to continue this relationship of sharing dance cultures and learning experiences and it is always good to see him and his team for a catch up 🙂 – we also made a new friend of is Italian teacher guest so another workshop to work on !! We both wish there was more time in the annual event calendar for this sort of thing ! However I did manage to catch one of his teachers Margaret for an evening whilst out in Portugal at the Dance World Cup 🙂
